UNCS History

UNCS was founded in 2002 by Brett Rose.  He was looking for an avenue to enter the retail market.  This passion led to the birth of United National Closeout Stores, Inc.  The company operated as a supplier to retail outlets.

By 2003, the company had grown so rapidly, additional office space was required.  UNCS moved into a warehouse / office located in Port Everglades.

During an exceptionally active storm season, Hurricane Wilma struck South Florida with a vengeance.  The storm disrupted power, flooded streets, and tore down buildings.  UNCS remained open during these long showerless weeks.  Then Vice President of Logistics, Sara Levine, used her blackberry; a car charger; and a four hour line at the gas station to ensure every load was delivered on time.

As the purchasing and sales departments grew in this location, it became abundantly clear that more space was needed.  UNCS was growing like a toddler and the building just couldn't hold everyone.  In 2005, the office was moved to a beautiful fifth floor location overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on Oakland Park Blvd.

In the Fall of 2007, to better communicate UNCS's position as a supplier to retailers and not an actual store front for consumers, the dba of United National Consumer Suppliers became the official name of the company.

In the Summer of 2008, water tested the stamina of UNCS again when pipes on the sixth floor of the Oakland Park office burst.  This resulted in a caved in ceiling and flooding throughout the UNCS office.  With quick thinking and a lot of team work; orders were received, processed, and delivered by PDA and home computers.  The UNCS team pulls together as a family every day to help each other, our customers, and our vendors; especially in times of emergency.  "What can we do for you?"

During the Summer of 2009, prompted by rapid growth in a down economy, UNCS moved to our new home on Sunrise Blvd.  This office affords UNCS and all of our visiting guests several offices, a show room, conference room and kitchen.  This location is housed with the Galleria Mall.  Could UNCS finally have the retail front Brett dreamed of so many years ago?  Check back soon!
